Starting a new business can be daunting!

Starting a business that is based upon an established and successful formula is much less so and a Box 2 franchise offers the opportunity to enter into an exciting, rewarding and ever expanding market, offering customers a proven high quality product with stunning levels of service. As part of an established business and growing network of stores, the risks associated with a typical new business are significantly reduced.

The success of the Box 2 franchise is a result of the support available and the quality of the people it attracts, their hard work and initiative. Our support is all encompassing, with comprehensive training and effective, on-going support in all aspects of retail management and operations. Our franchisees benefit from the experienced team at the Head Office, from store location to acquisition, shop fitting, equipment sourcing and installation to stock management, and sales and marketing!

Operating from retail premises (min 500sq ft) we offer franchisees a 10-year Franchise Agreement with full rights for renewal in an exclusive territory.

We have put in place a ‘turnkey package’ for our franchisees that includes support in a number of key areas:

Financial Information

Investing in a Box 2 franchise requires not only hard work and dedication!
You will need to make a financial commitment to secure a Box 2 franchise:

1. Investment

(a) Franchise Fee
Our Franchise Fee is 30K (exc. VAT) and includes the licence to operate in an exclusive territory for a period of 10 years (renewable), property advice and support, induction and training programme, and marketing launch programme.

(b) Property and Fit Out
Whilst all locations and properties are different franchisees will be required to acquire a suitable premise based on a minimum of 500sq ft. Franchisees may be required to secure a suitable site by way of rent deposit etc. Typically this may be in the region of 10K for securing the right property and 4K for store fit out.

(c) Stock
To ensure that franchisees have the right stock range to launch, we have put together an opening stock package of 35K (exc. VAT)

(d) EPOS
Box 2 has developed a customised EPOS system that enables franchisees to effectively manage stock collate key management information to manage the business. This costs 5.5K (exc. VAT) together with annual support costs.

In addition, franchisees will also be required to have working capital in place to support the initial marketing launch and other business start up expenses! We can also advise you with regard to funding options as we have developed a number of relationships with key high street banks who will fund up to 70% of the total investment costs.

2. On Going Fee

Franchisees will be required to pay two on going fees

· Management Fee based on 8% of Gross Revenue (exc. VAT)
· Marketing Fee based on 3% of Gross Revenue (exc. VAT)

All fees are collected on a monthly basis by direct debit.

3. Franchise Projections

Following on from our first meeting we will be happy to disclose more detailed financial information that will enable you and your advisors to build a Business Plan.

Our Support

BOX 2 strongly believes that the secret to launching and operating a franchise is to deliver great support and this support package can be seen at all stages of the development of the business:

1. Business Planning and Funding support – BOX 2 delivers a strong business planning kit and can also ‘sign-post’ franchisees to the right funding partners

2. Site Identification – although it is the responsibility of our franchisees to find the right location we will help you to find the right properties in your exclusive territory

3. Store Designs, Branding and Fit Out – we actively involve ourselves in supporting franchisees to develop the right store fit and ‘brand look’

4. Product Supply – our franchisees will benefit from carefully planned seasonal ranges, buying from around Europe, together with suppliers who listen to BOX 2 and its customers and create customised fashion ranges that are exclusive to BOX 2. Our franchisees will also benefit from better negotiated rates with suppliers as well as ‘state of the art’ delivery logistics that ensure that ranges are delivered in the right place at the right time in conjunction with our sales and marketing campaigns

5. Full Training – All Franchisees will benefit from a customised package of training both prior to launch as well as on an on-going basis. Training will focus on retailing skills, product knowledge and systems, ensuring that franchisees and their teams hit the ground running!

6. Sales and Marketing – we have developed a number of key packages focused on driving sales and brand awareness –

· A National media campaign with key media throughout the year e.g. Mail on Sunday, Good Housekeeping, Woman & Home
· A direct mail campaign using sales catalogues and an integrated national customer database
· PR activity using both National (TV) and regional (road shows) focus
· Local Marketing tool kit for use by franchisees at a local level
· Store launch package

7. Operational and Financial Support – we provide our Franchisees with full management information that will help to develop the business, as well as ‘branch audit’ visits that will ensure Franchisees operate to the highest standards.

The main focus for BOX 2 is to ensure that when Franchisees launch their business, we work with them throughout the programme! We believe that our training and support programmes are impressive and will focus on developing a close working relationship with them and their team.

2. How many retail stores do you operate?
BOX 2 owns and operates 2 stores in Wineham and Knutsford
There are 9 stores operating under franchise – West Wimbledon, Thornbury, Wakefield, Kings Langley, Stony Stratford, Bromley, Kendal, Cambridge and Ilkley
We also operate a mail order operation from our head office in Wineham

3. Where is Head Office?
Head Office is in Wineham, West Sussex

4. How do you choose your franchisees?
We have a rigorous recruitment process to help ensure that we select only the most suitable partners with whom we can achieve joint success

5. How much does your franchise cost?
The initial Franchise Fee is 30k
In addition you will also be required to invest in stock (c.35k), property – fixtures and fittings, rent etc. (dependent upon the property), EPOS system (5.5k) and marketing launch programme
Total investment in the region of 90k (exc. VAT)

6. What does the initial Franchise Fee include?
Your initial Franchise Fee secures your territory, the rights to operate, Property support, a full training programme, a comprehensive marketing package and full operational and launch support

7. May I see actual accounts, which confirm or fail to confirm your projections?
On signing a confidentiality agreement we will be happy to give you access to up-to-date financial information with regard to our own business in order for you to create your business plans

8. Did you run your own pilot schemes before franchising?
Yes, we launched a Pilot Programme in 2004 in SW London; indeed it is the largest store in terms of gross sales!

9. Can you help with funding?
No, but we do have a relationship with HSBC who will be able to support you. Typically they will lend between 50% and 70% of total start up costs.
